Welcome to the SIR2025 Conference!


#SiR2025 is a three-day conference organized by the research project Gender, society, and language use: Evidence from Mexico and Spain and other researchers interested in language and gender at the University of Helsinki. The conference brings together scholars working on different perspectives to gender and sexuality in Romance languages from different perspectives, including but not limited to sociolinguistics, morphosyntax, pragmatics, social psychology, and phonetics. The conference will take place at the University of Helsinki on 25–27 August 2025. The main language of the conference is English, but presentations can be held also in Romance languages.  


SiR2025 is organized by the research project Gender, society, and language use: Evidence from Mexico and Spain funded by the Kone Foundation and carried out at the University of Helsinki, and other researchers of Romance languages working on topics related to gender and sexuality.
